Usually at a Festival you are performing with other great artists and it is a great opportunity to meet and enjoy the company of other “stars” of the music industry. Performance wise I’m pretty consistent because I give the same energy no matter where I’m at… but at festivals you might hear more chants or crowd moments… only coz there’s soo much energy coming back to me when I throw some to the crowd. Everyone is usually on the same vibe, there’s a whole lot of freedom + nothing beats performing in front of a faded crowd haha Do you perform differently to how you do on a “normal” stage, and if you do, how is your performance different? There’s honestly a lot to love, but the atmosphere is what gets me the most. What do you like most about performing at a Festival? Protip: This isn't guaranteed, but could happen at any Kishi show. Nearly every time I go I find a new friend or friends to bring who have never seen them, and I really should make a collection of the thank you texts and emails I get the next day. It is so incredible that we get to witness Kishi Bashi performances in venues of this size. Kishi Bashi is one of maybe 5-6 acts I see every single time they pass through, because there is no place I'd rather be than in that space with those talented musicians. Almost all those cafes on the canal were repurposed areas that used to be long storage cylinders for goods, and they all had that same domed ceiling. This venue reminds me of the canal-level cafes in Utrecht, Netherlands.
